I am from Madrid, love the city and want to share my special addresses. Every day a new idea, place or thing to do in Madrid. Everything has been thoroughly tested but it is only a personal opinion.

Terraces in Madrid- Chapter I

At last the time of terraces has arrived! We thought it would be good to make a little compilation of the terraces we like most about Madrid in different posts.  Here's our first chapter, three terraces for three different moments:

  • Intimate and charming, La Encarna Bistró Andaluz
  • Chic and healthy, The Velázquez
  • Urban and in the heights, Picalagartos

La Encarna Terrace!

La Encarna Bistró Andaluz, this terrace hidden in a small street in the centre of Madrid called Recaredo, hides an oasis to disconnect from the noise of the city and travel to Andalusia. The best raw material from this region but with a sophisticated touch like its terrace.
Encarna Ensaladilla

The perfect place to share, as they offer the option of rations and half rations. I recommend the bull's tail that is cooked 8 hours in a row, the shrimp salad and the salmorejo, super refreshing for these days.

El Velázquez

The Velázquez 17, located at the beginning of Calle Velázquez, is part of the Murillo Café group that also has a lovely terrace.  The terrace is very pleasant for meetings of friends and work. Being located in the street, allows you to greet acquaintances who walk or simply act as a voyeur of the traffic of people who pass by. We are very fond of the new salad menu they have prepared for this summer, all healthy and refreshing like the beetroot and goat cheese salad, one of my favorites.

Great views in Picalagartos

Picalagartos Sky-Bar, is the new bet of chef Javier Muñoz-Calero and his group Azotea at the NH Collection Hotel in Gran Via 21, decorated by Mercedes Isasa, offers one of the best views over the mythical street of Gran Via with the best bet of traditional Madrid cuisine.

Typical Madrilian Tapas
From the top of Madrid, with an original selection of dishes known to everyone and reinterpreted: Callos a la Madrileña, the Bravas Montera, or the Esponjositos con rejos de chipirón a la romana con ali oli de ajo negro my favorite dish, a delicious sandwich!

Another Way film Festival, Madrid's sustainable progress film festival, will be held in Matadero next October to raise public awareness of the challenges and environmental solutions we face through more sustainable filmmaking.

As an aperitif prior to the festival, in Sala Equiis which is now one of the coolest places in the city, there will be a screening of three wonderful documentaries from today until Friday at 7pm.

The films are as follows:
- Today: Koyaanisqatsi (1982) Godfrey Reggio produced by Francis Ford Coppola. Voiceless images that show the contrast of modern life with nature.
- Thursday: Human (2015) by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. Portrait of the human being, of his fears, love, violence.
- Friday: Life in a Day (2011) by Kevin Macdonald, produced by Ridley Scott.
Time capsule to show future generations what it means to be alive on July 24, 2010.

Upavistha Konasana pose

Although it is not yet possible to say that the good weather has arrived, in our Mylittlemadridkids section we have a plan for your children outdoors: YOGA KIDS in English.

Uttanasana pose

From the age of two, children can begin to practice this form of sport that does so much good to the body and mind.

Cat pose

Among the benefits of yoga for children, we can find:
- Improving coordination and balance
- Enhancing self-esteem
- Learning to relax
- Raising concentration and awareness of a healthy way of life.

Cherie, a lovely Filipine kids yoga teacher  gave us a class last week at the Retiro Park The selected place could not have been better, as we did it surrounded by flowers from the Rose Garden. My baby just adored it and was very excited not only with yoga, but also with roses, fountain and ducks!

Namaste with kids and mother
The class is for children from 2 to 9 years old and consists of imitating animals with yoga postures, singing and speaking in English and after the class a little colouring.

Individual classes are 20€ for the first session and 30€ for groups of maximum 6 children, the cost of the first session is 50€ and the rest 60€.

For a discount of 5€ in the first class, do not hesitate to say that you are a follower of Mylittlemadrid.
