I am from Madrid, love the city and want to share my special addresses. Every day a new idea, place or thing to do in Madrid. Everything has been thoroughly tested but it is only a personal opinion.

Flamenco shows in Madrid are usually a resource for tourists, so it is not very common to see locals in the shows. However, thanks to my friend Eli Morales, I have discovered the Teatro Flamenco in Madrid with pure flamenco magic where there were hardly any tourists and you enjoy for an hour that lasts that show with a drink and a coffee table. It was something magical, on stage, guitar, singing and dancing, to make your hair stand on end.

Five Must Does in Madrid this Christmas

Decorate your home - Build your own Madrilenian nativity scene.
First go to plaza Mayor to buy figurines. The essential figurines are: Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, cow and donkey, angel, some shepherds and the three wise men.
A tip: do not buy the caganet it is not a local figurine.
Another tip: While in plaza Mayor take advantage to have a Christmas chocolate con churros at Chocolatería San Gines.
Then go to your nearby park and pick some moss, stones, twigs, etc.
Find a good spot in your house far from pets. Do not forget to build up a river with kitchen foil and to add some lighting that will make the joy of the little ones.
Visit a museum but make sure you buy your tickets online beforehand.
Our choice :
- Clara Peeters at Museo del Prado from 25th October 2016 to 19th February 2017.
- Renoir at Thyssen Bornemisza Museum from 18th October 2016 to 22th January 2017.
- Robert Doisneau – la Belleza de lo Cotidiano at Fundación Canal from 6th October 2016to 8th January 2017.

Treat your belly and go for nice healthy food.
Our choice:
- Bump and Green
- Hermosos y Malditos
- Nubel
- La Pagoda
- Amazónico

Treat your look. Since you are not going to start a diet go for a facial at Skininc, a massage at Assari or a walk at the Retiro Park.

Have crazy amusement. Go for a show with dinner to the newly revamped Florida Retiro, depending on the day you can choose a musical show or jazz music, and after 01:30 a.m. lively disco and dancing.

And a final suggestion outside the list: stay at home, relax and watch a nice TV series with a glass of Spanish wine avoiding the masses.

Best wishes to all of you from My Little Madrid!!

Madrid Cultural Plans - First Week of June

The month of June comes with a great variety of cultural plans.
Here is our suggestion with different options for you to plan in advance:

Theater Dangerous Liaisons - Naves del Matadero

We love going to the theater, especially when you have the certainty that the play is a good one. Las Amistades Peligrosas is a well known 18th century french novel and also an american film. Therefore, I couldn’t resist seeing how it would be played by Spanish actors in the modern Naves del Matadero. My surprise was to find a very daring production with great actors, great costumes but very modern punk soundtrack!

Las Meninas - Children's Theater at Teatro San Pol

We are happy to announce our collaboration with Teatro San Pol in their production "Las Meninas". It is a childrens play inspired in Velazquez's Las Meninas and the city of Madrid. A good plan for the little ones! We have collaborated with our drawings of Madrid buildings for the introductory video, and we are very proud!

Summer in Madrid - La Esmeralda de Kapurthala - great fun!

Today I am proposing a something really refreshing and fun for this boiling Madrid summer: dinner "Al Fresco" plus hilarious musical "La Esmeralda de Kapurthala".  I went on wednesday night and had such a great fun!!!

It is part of the summer program by Teatro Galileo at calle Galileo 39 (not to be mistaken with Sala Galileo). The performance is not done inside the theater but in the gardens, where they have displayed a scenario and tables and chairs to allow for dinner and drink. Really nice, with a vintage flavor reminding us those childhood summer nights that we all long for.

INSIDE - Theater at Hotel Intercontinental Madrid

We love going to the Theatre as you have probably noticed from our posts, and even more when it is surprisingly different as it happened last week. What was the surprise? First the venue: Hotel Intercontinental Madrid, Secondly: the public: theatre play just for two, Thirdly: its interactivity as you have to follow the actors all over the hotel through hotel rooms, elevators and closets. Sigue leyendo, en español más abajo!

Rocky Horror Picture Show - Crazy Halloween

I'm not particularly keen about celebrating Halloween. It is not a tradition in Spain at all. However, since last year I love a crazy show that has become a fixed appointment in my list of great annual parties!  The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

A good excuse to dress up in an extravagant way and party till very late!

Iván -off - Theater at La Casa de la Portera

What a great theater experience Iván-Off at La Casa de la Portera, one of My little Madrid best addresses for culture, undoubtedly!

Why? I'll try to be as convincing as possible, but I don't want to reveal much. Better you go and get your own opinion!

Summer plans in Madrid - Circo Price

Summer at La Villa de Madrid, music and other cool activities

One of the good things that Madrid offers in summer is a wide range of cultural activities. One I like much is the chance to enjoy international rare bands included in the "Veranos de la Villa" program. The program goes from 27th june to 2 of September, so there is plenty of time to book for tickets and get information from their website Veranos de la Villa.
Congratulations for the graphic design of their poster!!!

Royal Theater - Life and Death of Marina Abramovic

I was certainly very curious about the evolution of famous performance artist and photographer Marina Abramovic, who exposes in such a dramatic way her art, and probably even more interested on how it would be represented at Teatro Real under the new guidance of Gerard Mortier and the fantastic direction of Robert Wilson, my new idol!

Here is a video of the show from magazine El Cultural (El Mundo). Get your own opinion! Mine can be reduced to one word; overwhelming!!

Theater - Microteatro

Microteatro is a different concept for theatre very accurate for crisis period... you only pay 4 euros for an approx 10 minutes play, you can choose between different plays all being played in the same theater at the same time, or even see them all (4 euros for each play) enjoying tapas and drinks between play and play at the cozy cafeteria!
