I am from Madrid, love the city and want to share my special addresses. Every day a new idea, place or thing to do in Madrid. Everything has been thoroughly tested but it is only a personal opinion.

Car Repair - Neumáticos Rosa

This morning I got out of the house in a hurry, as usual, and... Damn it!!! My car had a flat tyre. Complete panic, I even considered to just drive on with the flat tyre. But luckily I remembered one of my best addresses to be used in these special occasions: Neumáticos Rosa. Ten minutes and 12 Euros latter every thing was fixed, and now I drive safely!!!

Moving by scooter in Madrid - Mooting

This is a funny and practical way to go around Madrid; renting a Scooter. I found a new company that had this great idea Mooting. For as little as €32 a day, you get a Piaggio LIberty, two helmets and a pair of gloves. They deliver the scooter directly to your hotels door and you are free to go around Madrid avoiding trafic jams.

Sports at the Retiro - Rollerblading

The two main things about Madrid that I probably enjoy the best in my daily life are the light (already mentioned in the blog) and the Retiro Park!! Especially now that the rain and the cold temperatures have finally disappeared… it’s time to enjoy the Retiro!
And why not… instead of going to the gym go to the Retiro for a nice and sunny sporty experience!
My suggestions for sports at the Retiro will come in different posts. This week I recommend Rollerblading!

Biking - the best way around

Now that it seems that the sun is going to stay... you should avoid public transportations (busy, uncomfortable), taxis (expensive and chatty!), car (nightmare for driving and parking) and give a go to cycling. As we say in Spain: "culo duro sin gastar un duro" or what is the same "firm butt without spending a penny". No need to go to the gym any more and you will be contributing to keep a healthy environment instead of increasing the already strong pollution.. so, grab a helmet, and a good lock (very important) and try to go to work, visit friends, do your shopping on a bike, which, I strongly recommend, must have a basket!

Is this Amsterdam?
If you think that biking is too hard as daily transport, you can also try a hybrid bike with motor which will help through difficult parts of town.

Your bike must be comfortable, better buy it at a special store like LMT racing in Chamartin area, or Retrocycle

If you are not so sure about buying a bike, try the rental service in Atocha http://madridfree.com/bicicletas-a-1-euro/ you pay 1 euro you get an hour or in Principe de Vergara, 30€ for a month: http://bicicritica.ourproject.org.
Be careful, this can also happen!!
