I am from Madrid, love the city and want to share my special addresses. Every day a new idea, place or thing to do in Madrid. Everything has been thoroughly tested but it is only a personal opinion.

Biking along Madrid Rio
The good news is that the weather is wonderful. We have a lovely springtime in Madrid with long and sunny days so we are willing to wander around the city. And what would be the best way around? Yes, you got it: BIKING!

Biking - the best way around
Now that it seems that the sun is going to stay... you should avoid public transportations (busy, uncomfortable), taxis (expensive and chatty!), car (nightmare for driving and parking) and give a go to cycling. As we say in Spain: "culo duro sin gastar un duro" or what is the same "firm butt without spending a penny". No need to go to the gym any more and you will be contributing to keep a healthy environment instead of increasing the already strong pollution.. so, grab a helmet, and a good lock (very important) and try to go to work, visit friends, do your shopping on a bike, which, I strongly recommend, must have a basket!
If you think that biking is too hard as daily transport, you can also try a hybrid bike with motor which will help through difficult parts of town.

Is this Amsterdam? |
Your bike must be comfortable, better buy it at a special store like LMT racing in Chamartin area, or Retrocycle.
If you are not so sure about buying a bike, try the rental service in Atocha http://madridfree.com/bicicletas-a-1-euro/ you pay 1 euro you get an hour or in Principe de Vergara, 30€ for a month: http://bicicritica.ourproject.org.
