September is here. Are we back to routine? Not necessarily...
Holidays may be over but there are many things to do to extend holiday feeling. Madrid has lots to offer and the weather is still very good. I propose the following activities for the rentrée:
First, try to keep that good mood you had during your holidays. Treat yourself; forget about all you have been eating and drinking during summer and follow a detox program at Assari in combination with one of their gorgeous Shiatsu massages.
Change you nail
colour at The Coloured Clap. Three very amusing Cuban ladies will work on your
nails while chatting about life events. You will get a very optimistic flair.
Change your hair
style. I propose Enzo at Rossano Ferretti. Ask him for a new cut that makes you
look (and feel) younger and thinner… He
is a magician!
Then, start
discovering changes in the city, new places, old spots that you have not
visited for long... The long daylight allows you to discover bars and cafés for
a cervecita or a glass of wine with friends and make the point about each one’s
holiday. We fancy two new hot spots: Amazonico and Habanera. Both have that
tropical touch that will take your spirit back on holidays. But we also suggest
small typical bars such as el Enfriador or Jurucha.

Finally, do not
forget to take advantage of the fabulous cultural offer Madrid has this autumn.
You cannot miss The Bosch Centenary Exhibition at Prado Museum, the Caravaggio Exhibition at the Thyssen Museum or
the smaller Sorolla landscape Exhibition at the Sorolla Museum.

El Prado has organized
the exhibition of the year, a unique opportunity to find out more about Hieronymus Bosch. Works such as The Garden of the Earthly Delights or The Adoration of the
Magi, as well as the outstanding Triptych of the Temptations of St. Anthony will
astonish you.
The Thyssen
Museum with the exhibition: Caravaggio and the Painters of the North shows the extraordinary
artistic career of Caravaggio, comparing it with a selection of works by his
most prominent followers.
Visiting Sorolla. Inland at the Sorolla Museum you will discover that Sorolla not only painted the
Valencian coast, he also worked on inland spaces, beautiful landscapes that
place the painter in the artistic concerns of the final realism. You will find squares,
bridges, orchards, Asturias and the Basque Country, the light in the Castile
nature and Joaquín Sorolla’s White Spain, a modern version of Andalusia.
And finally, a
new suggestion for lodging if you are visiting Madrid. I propose you to try
something different and cheaper. Would you not prefer to love like a local,
like an “autentico Madrileño”? Then why not find your room at www.hundredrooms.com? I recently discovered
their web page and think it provides a really good chance to discover the city from
a new point of view and not as a tourist.
