The very newest restaurant in Madrid has an odd name: NO. Restaurant.
It has a premium location (old Amparo at the callejón de Puigcerdá) and a nice and simple decoration; all black and white with large murals on the walls representing people famous for their nonconformity with the events of their time: the first gay activist, the first female aviator, the Tiananmen protests...
Xavier Márquez is the chef. Trained in London he already has another successful restaurant in Madrid: la Kitchen (calle Prim 5) where he also offers a catering service.
The menu is an easy one. Good quality unpretentious food at very contained prices. It reminds me very much the Tragaluz concept which is the hot trend. I had a great burger with delicious fries and a really good apple pie with ice cream. There is also carpacio, sushi, tuna tartar, for my next visit... here you have the menu.
I believe it has a chance to become a hot spot this year 2013, we'll see!!!
