Last weekend, I enjoyed myself very much walking around Barrio de las Letras and admiring the lovely decoration brought up by the initiative DecorAccion.
Walking
through Barrio de las letras is always special, architecture and shops
have plenty of history and good taste. And yet imagine if a bunch of many well
known decorators and antiquaires work on the outside look of the shops,
creating lovely installations and organising brocantes in the streets and even letting you visit their private studios..! You almost get the Stendhal disease… J
The weather
was not friendly the first two days, but luckily the city town hall extended
the initiative until Sunday.
I let you
some pictures of my 3 day visit to Decoracción, (Yes.. I know it might be too
much, but there was so much to see!!) and special mention to the favourite
things I saw during the visit...
Calle San
Pedro, lovely street full of antiques; furniture, mirrors,
lamps.. the street had colourful flags hanging out and made you think of a
typical verbena (popular village party), furniture there seemed to be more
affordable than calle Quevedo where another market was organised.
One of the
most photographed installations was the huge lizard made out of cd’s from design
students..
However my
favourite was this old shirt shop ..
I also had
the opportunity to have a glass of wine at Alejandro Fauquié studio. He lives
there with his lovely girlfriend Blanca and have stunning furniture.. I could
hardly focus in the conversation surrounded by such nice things.
Bars and restaurants were also decorated and found very original the naïf forest interior of la
Mojigata and discovered a wonderful lemon pie.
If you
haven’t had the chance to visit it this year, don’t miss it next year!! Best
street walk of the year so far..!!!
I like the way you describe the weekend-party in El Barrio de las Letras, I was there and it was amazing, I am looking forward to next year
