Second hand books at La Cuesta del Moyano

Since we still are in an almost-holiday-period and the weather is becoming less agressive I propose a nice traditional walk; La Cuesta del Moyano. It has been long time since my last walk through these stalls, I had almost forgotten, but on my way to the Hoper exhibition it has been a nice surprise to discover this Madrid land mark not only unspoiled but improved (now pedestrian) and restored.

The Moyano hill is a famous pedestrian avenue which is the site of Madrid's permanent book fair, with around 30 wooden stalls primarily dedicated to the purchase and sale of second-hand books. It connects the Paseo del Prado avenue near Atocha station with the Botanic park. A pleasant, short and advisable walk to take on its own or as a break when going to Atocha station or the Castellana Museums; Caixa Forum, Thyssen-Bornemisza or Reina Sofia.

The street  takes its name after Claudio Moyano, a spanish politician who lived in the 19th century, has been home to Madrid's permanent book fair since 1925. Very charming and with a lot of character, stall have been restored to their original shape and the street has become pedestrian. You can find books at good prices or just browse through the place. It is also a good place to find items which are no longer in print or first editions.
