Restaurant La Posada de la Villa - great lamb

La Posada de la Villa at Cava Baja 9  is a classical that will never deceive you or your guests. Even better if guests are foreigners because location and food cannot be more genuine. La Cava Baja is at the hub of old Madrid (Madrid de los Austrias). A very nice walk from Plaza de la Puerta Cerrada to Plaza del Humilladero!

Originally an old Inn dating 1642, it was renovated in 1980 by its actual owners to become a traditional restaurant offering madrilenian/castellano food. The specialty at la Posada de la Villa is the lamb or at least that is what I go there for. It is cooked in a wood oven as in ancient times.

You can also have other appreciated Madrilenian dishes such as cocido (chickpea stew), callos (tripe) o sopa de ajo (garlic soup), not really diet but after lunch have a nice walk towards plaza de la Cebada where lots of young people gather and where you will find this interesting wall decoration:

  1. Great to know about this restaurant and villa, i think it is good to visit here and also the service provided is much better from local hotels and restaurants.
