Isabela Gourmet Market in Madrid

Last Update: Isabela gourmet market did not make it. It has been closed down on the 17th of May 2013. Too young to die?

This time I went to the newly opened Isabela Gourmet Market in Chamartin (paseo de la Habana 3). the new market concept is boosting in Madrid, and they have announced a new one in Salamanca district in the premises of old Carlos III cinema...

Differently from San Miguel or San Anton, public here is almost fully madrilenian, a little bit packed and claustrophobic, since the ceilings are quite low.  This space used to be Calle 54 (life blues restaurant that I loved) and subsequently Thai Gardens.
Good quality; I tasted ahumados (smoked fish) and frituras (fried scampy and fish) plus some rosted vegetables. The problem is to be able to get a place to eat even standing up!!!
There is a nice patio that was covered this time because of the rainy day.
I guess we must let the market settle up and return when the crowds have found a new spot to conquer. We will be then able to taste the oysters, sushi and hamburgers.
In any case, it really is a great success!!!!

Happy madrilenian crowds
