I am from Madrid, love the city and want to share my special addresses. Every day a new idea, place or thing to do in Madrid. Everything has been thoroughly tested but it is only a personal opinion.

Restaurant Gaudeamus Café

Gaudeamus café
calle Tribulete 14
One of the best things Madrid can offer is its sunny bright light. That is why there are many nice terraces all around where you can enjoy sunny days even in winter time. Today's recommendation is situated on top of a university. Which is quite uncommon as students are supposed to stay in class instead of enjoying sun.
UNED (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia) a modern concept of distance education, specially designed for people that are working or prefer to study at their own rhythm has allowed Gaudeamus restaurant to open on the penthouse of its main building.

A Corrala
Walking from Lavapies square to Tribulete street, you will also have the chance to make an imaginary trip to India through clothes shops, groceries and even hairdressers.
The restaurant is surrounded by some of Lavapies typical corralas, historically popular central patios of Madrid common buildings. Food is simple but good. Not so busy as Latina terraces on weekends but I recommend to book in advance.
Also nice for a late drink

  1. Our family(with 3 teens 14,17 and 20) had a lovely, informative and enjoyable tour with www.privatetoursinistanbul.com He was so knowledgeable(former art history professor) and really brought the art to life for our family. His special anecdotes and information made the enormity of the museum manageable, plus provided an excellent introduction to Spanish history.Afterwards, we had a stroll through some of the older neighborhoods and ended up in a typical local resteraunt for lunch. Later in our trip, when we went through the Picasso museum in Barcelona, my children were very interested in Picasso's interpretation of Velasquez's works-thanks to all they learned from Mr Satt. That is a great success to me!
